A domain name is like your name on the web. Our domain name is baldur.org. It is best to try to keep these names as simple as possible, while at the same time making sure they "make sense" to others and are easy to find.
People with personal web pages, often try to make their domain as close to their own name as possible - while companies try to find a domain that fits their name or brand.
Hosting
Hosting is like your home on the net. In order to put up a web page, you will need a "house" to keep it in (a space on a computer). The size of the space is usually measured in megabites (MB).
Most typical users will do fine with our 750 MB hosting service - while someone who wishes to publish a lot of music, videos or photographs might need something bigger.
Content Management System (CMS)
A CMS is a system that helps you maintain your web site. They are usually divided into two sections - a frontend, which is the web page any visitor sees - and an administrator section, where you will type in news, publish links, update your contact information, create polls for visitors etc., etc.
You do not need any knowledge of web programming or HTML (web programming language), to maintain your site. If you feel comfortable using a word editor (Microsoft Office, Open Office, Wordpad etc.), you will get the hang of using a CMS in no time.
